Question Tag or Tag questions

QUESTION TAG = Mini questions that we often put at the end of a sentence.
To form the question tag, we use the Auxiliary Verb.

PRESENT

AFFIRMATIVE You work at a bank, don’t you?
NEGATIVE
You don’t work at a bank, do you?

He is a student, isn’t he?
He isn’t a student, is he?

She lives near here, doesn’t she?
She doesn’t live near here, does she?

There are 3 boys in the classroom, aren’t there?
There aren’t 3 boys in the classroom, are there?
PAST
You worked at a bank, didn’t you?
You didn’t work at a bank, did you?


He was here last night, wasn’t he?
He wasn’t here last night, was he?

There were many people at the bank, weren’t there?
There weren’t many people at the bank, were there?

PRESENT PERFECT AND PAST PERFECT

He has been there before, hasn’t he?
He hasn't been there before, has he?
He had never met her before, had he?
He had met her before, hadn’t he?

MODALS

He can come, can’t he?
He can’t come, can he?
He will be here later, won’t he?
He won’t be here later, will he?
He could be here, couldn't he?
He couldn't he here, could he?
He should be here, shouldn’t he?
He shouldn’t he here, should he?
He would like to be here, wouldn’t he?
He wouldn't like to be here, would he?

Ps: after Let’s the question tag is = shall we?
Let’s go to the movies, shall we?

IMPERATIVE: the question tag is = will you?

Open the window, will you?
Don’t open the window, will you?

NOTE: VERB TO BE PRESENTI am late, aren’t I?
I am tired, aren’t I?
I am not going, am I?
